When the cargo arrives at destination, does the buyer need to present the Original Bill of Lading?

There are 2 options to present the Bill of Lading to the destination agent.

  1. Original Bill of Lading – wherein the buyer needs to present and surrender the originally signed Bill of Lading. The seller needs to send this via pouch to his buyer so he can present this on time when shipment arrives destination.
  2. Telex Release Bill of Lading – the seller can request for Telex Release BL within the scenario that all obligation is settled by the buyer to seller. Likewise, all origin charges are paid by the shipper to carrier. Telex release BL is more convenient since it saves time and money compared to sending an original bill of lading via courier.
